Team-based Education And Management (T.E.A.M.) is an innovative educational program designed to educate the entire treatment team as a whole, similar to the way treatment and management is conducted in the practice setting. The overall goal of the T.E.A.M. initiative is to promote interaction among practice team members, which continues beyond the educational program, leading to improved communication and potential improvements in patient outcomes.
T.E.A.M. Asthma-Allergy provides treatment teams with the opportunity to earn a significant amount of educational credits by completing all course materials. Multiple learning modules provide perspective to enable all team members to know their role and that of their teammates; thus, leading to an optimal team approach. All programs include subsections specific to each audience ensuring that the education provided is applicable to daily practice. The learning modules are distributed throughout the year providing a continued learning experience which leads to increased opportunities for application of the education in clinical practice.
Panel members include specialist physicians in addition to representation of all invited audiences to help provide a balanced and team-based consensus. Video vignettes of patient-treatment team interactions are interspersed with audience participation in order to provide an interactive, case-based learning format applicable to daily practice and conducive to team-based learning.
Incorporating the T.E.A.M. approach into educational programs enhances the learning experience and offers a welcome change from traditional learning methods. |
